Indian Textile Exports Weave Strong Momentum with November Surge

Indian Textile and Apparel exports delivered a strong performance in November 2025, signaling renewed confidence across the sector. Exports touched USD 2,855.8 million during the month, marking a healthy 9.4 percent rise compared with the same period last year. The growth reflects steady global demand, competitive pricing, and improved performance across key product segments.

Ready made garments emerged as a major growth driver, recording an increase of 11.3 percent. Man made yarn, fabrics, and made ups posted an even stronger rise of 15.7 percent, highlighting the growing importance of synthetic and blended textiles in global markets. Cotton yarn, fabrics, made ups, and handloom products also showed resilience with a growth of 4.1 percent, while handicrafts excluding handmade carpets delivered an impressive jump of 29.7 percent, underlining the global appeal of Indian craftsmanship.

A Sector of Strategic Scale

For the financial year 2024 to 25, the overall size of the textile and apparel sector is estimated at USD 179 billion. This includes a robust domestic market valued at USD 142 billion and exports worth USD 37 billion. The scale of the industry continues to make it a critical pillar of employment, manufacturing strength, and foreign exchange earnings.

Global Markets and Ongoing Challenges

The United States remains the largest export destination for Indian textile and apparel products, even as higher tariffs continue to pose challenges. Despite such pressures, exporters have managed to maintain growth through market diversification, value added products, and efficiency improvements.

Steady Performance over the Year

Cumulative textile and apparel exports excluding handicrafts during January to November 2025 reached USD 32,560.0 million. This represents a marginal increase of 0.26 percent over the corresponding period last year, reflecting stability amid global uncertainty.

The November performance offers a positive signal for the months ahead. With strong segments gaining momentum and the domestic base remaining solid, India textile industry appears well positioned to strengthen its global standing and sustain export growth in the evolving trade landscape.
